The short version

Who we are

This site is run by Palatine Labs, LLC ("Palatine Labs", "we", "us"), a company registered in Virginia, United States. We are responsible for the information described here. You can reach us any time at [email protected].

What we collect

Your name and email address, if you type them into the early-access form and submit it. Those are the only two fields on the form, and giving them to us is entirely your choice.

Anything you put in an email to us. If you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply and so we remember the conversation later.

Ordinary server records. Like almost every website, our host records basic technical details when a page is served: an IP address, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. We do not use these to build a profile of you, and we do not try to work out who you are from them.

We do not ask for your employer, your phone number, or anything else, and we would rather not have it.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. There is no advertising pixel, no session tracking, and no third-party script watching what you do on the page.

That may change. If we add analytics so we can see roughly how many people visit, we will update this page before switching it on, note the change at the top, and say plainly what it collects. If anything we add places a cookie or tracks you across other sites, we will ask your permission first.

Fonts, and the one third party on the page

The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That means Google's servers see your IP address and browser details when the fonts are fetched, the same as on a great many websites. We receive nothing from Google about you, and we do not use their analytics products. If you would rather not have that happen at all, we are able to serve the fonts from our own domain instead, and we may do so in future.

Who else sees your name and email address

Cloudflare hosts this website, stores the waitlist and forwards email sent to us, and our email provider stores those messages as it would any email. Neither uses your details for their own purposes. Beyond those, nobody.

We would only hand over information if the law required it of us, and we would tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.

How long we keep it

We hold waitlist names and addresses until the beta opens and we have invited you, or until you ask us to remove yours, whichever comes first. If the project is wound up or the waitlist abandoned, we delete the list rather than keep it sitting around.

Emails you send us are kept while the conversation is useful, and we clear out old correspondence periodically.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. One email to [email protected] is enough. There is no form and no justification needed, and we aim to deal with it within a few days.

Every message we send tells you how to come off the list: reply and ask.

If you live in California, state law gives you specific rights to know what personal information a business has collected about you, to have it deleted, to have it corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the past twelve months. For the other rights, write to us at the address above and we will honour the request. We will not treat you any differently for asking.

If you are in the UK or the EU, we are a United States business and this site is aimed at a US audience, but if you have joined the waitlist from there you have the same practical outcome: ask and we will show you what we hold or erase it. We rely on your consent to hold your name and address, and you may withdraw that consent whenever you like.

Children

This site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their details, tell us and we will delete it.

Keeping it safe

We keep the list small, keep access to it limited to the people who need it, and protect the accounts it sits in. No service on the internet can promise perfect security, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If information were ever exposed in a way that put you at risk, we would tell the people affected.

Changes to this page

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For anything significant, and certainly before we start collecting something new, we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing the text.

Questions about any of this go to [email protected], and a person will answer.
